Technically dissapointed

I am a bit dissapointed by the technology around me. I was expecting a little bit more out of the gadgets i own.

  • my car cd-player broke down, after bumping in a hole in the road. roads in Romania are faulty and my cd-player jumps every time i find a rough spot in the road.
  • my hp elitebook takes forever to render a movie for trafictube.ro. i was expecting faster processors and faster computers.
  • online video still is blurry and pixelated, 3 years after youtube made it big. sad.
  • even more, internet speed is not what it supposed to be. mobile internet is so slow…

…And more

Congrats to Jason Calacanis

He single-handed exposed the weak tech journalism. Using his twitter account, Mr.. Calacanis started posting fake and easy guess-able Apple iPad specs, ours ago before the official announcement. Some journalists believe him and posted “the news” on their sites. Of course, now they feel dumb, and I agree with Loren they should be, if they believe it.

work more?

Would you believed it if you heard it 10 years ago? Would you believe that we would have to work more every day just to get by? I always thought I would work less and the technology would work for me. Not me working more for technology. For notebooks, phones, cameras…

This is a fail for humanity.

What we really need

Not another social bookmark, social site, web2.0 bullshit. We really need faster and better technology. On my list:

  • A laptop that is lighter and with a battery that lasts longer than 2 hours. my Dell dies after I turn wifi on. and sometimes I really want to blog live from conferences.
  • A cell phone that films better and has a good battery. my Nokia N82 has a 5 megapixel camera and gets pretty good video. but I want more.
  • A fixed Firefox. I am tired of the memory leaks that slows down the browser. I do not mind that it takes 1gb of my ram (I have 2.5), but I want it to work!
  • Faster internet. and here I include all those pixelated videos on YouTube, that I hate watching.

That is what we need.
