Some time ago i found myself talking with heads of a investment fund looking for opportunities to invest in the Romanian internet. Aside my legendary gloom and discomfort with the way things are going in this industry, we tried to find unconquered niches to exploit (please remember this was a 2010 discussion, some things may have changed).

One friend slipped on the stairs and hit her head. We got her to the hospital and, rather and wait at the state hospital, someone made a call and got her a private doctor to see her. The call was made to a person I have adviced one time on some internet moves and, rather than take his money for my services, i took his friendship.
And I like this approach: better than a one time deal, where I do something for you, i take your money and that is it, help me when i need something from you. That day may never come, but…
I guess people respect people who don’t jump so quickly at the money.
Most of the times i get asked to write about an event or a new shop opening, i ask a very simple question. Why would anyone be interested in reading this? And most of the times people tend to freeze. Well, we opened our shop and we are new. Ok, that is not a story for people to be interested in. What else? Oh, nothing else…
People buy stories.

Good Search Engine Optimization can be done easily with good and unique content. Shoving the same news in Google’s throat is hard work, but look here and here. Those two guys write from time to time good stuff. People link to them. The end of SEO for them.
Good SEO is done with good content. Write good stories and people will come.
