Facebook traffic: "share" vs. "like"

People click more often on "like" than on "share", it’s a known fact. It’s just one click. Share, on the other hand, it’s more complicated. You have to choose a thumbnail, write a short description… way too much work.

On traffic terms, share beats like‘s ass. On various test conducted on my other blog, liking a link gets only 10% of the traffic a shared link gets. Same thumbnail, same short mindless description (ok, i cheated, it was the same photo, i liked the link first and then i shared it on my wall).

So, an optimisation for share is important.

Facebook’s like could be the next bookmark manager. Save and tag and could be the replacement for del.icio.us.

Facebook shutting down? Really?

Remember when chain letters flooded yahoo instant messenger, announcing yahoo will shut down if you don’t send the message to everybody on your list? It was popular in  Romania up until 2007 or so.

Now, reading about Facebook shutting down because Zuckerberg can’t take it anymore is hilarious. Only a retard can believe such a thing. Yea, 500 million users will be left out because the minority shareholder is tired. Makes sense, right?

Facebook for Adobe AIR doesn’t work

The official Facebook app for Adobe Air does not work properly, and judging from the topics dealing with the same error (“checking extended permissions freeze”) i’d say it’s been doing that for some time.

Too much noise

The Noise Within by CayusaI have an account on LinkedIn. I find it useful into tracking my old colleagues and friends.

Two days ago I got one on facebook, because it said I cannot access a user profile if I didn’t have an account. I signed up and…I still couldn’t see the profile, because I need to be friends with that person. Usability fail. Anyway, some people found me and added me as a friend, so I got mails with their requests. I got pulled back in into facebook. And I stuck around for a couple minutes. Way too much noise. The wall, the side notes, the tracking of people. Way too lazy for everything.

I think the internet has become a busy intersection. You want to get stuff done, read some news, check your email, see some gadgets or naked ladies, but you cannot move because of all the noise. Facebook, Twitter, SecondLife, FriendFeed and others I don’t know about…Lot of noise. Not getting much done and not advancing in technology, all because of the noise. Latest dumb thing? Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on my mobile. Because all I really wanted to do is watch those beautiful girls on a little screen.
