Listening to Robert Scoble

Today at IFA I had the pleasure of listening to Robert Scoble speak in a panel about German and American Bloggers. It was weird somehobw, because he did not say nothing i did not knew and his presenting style is not so flashy (as oposed to Hugh McLeod, for example).

I listened to some German journalists turned bloggers and that made me sad. In Romania, bloggers are 20-something geeks that are happy to share things and glad to be up on the stage. At Blogging in Germany and America i saw old journalists trying to teach us about new media and the tech revolution.

The photos I’ve taken are here.

Why?

Nobody asked me why did I left Bucharest for Berlin. I think it’s sad everybody understood why.

drinking in Berlin

In Romania, public drinking is prohibited. And in the center of the cities is strictly enforced. Is tolerated in the back of the streets, in poor neighborhoods. On football games, all the shops near the stadium stop selling alcohol.

It’s a shock for a Romanian to see so many people just having a drink in Berlin. Old women enjoying a glass of wine as they walk around Potsdamer Platz and youngsters having a case of beer in the parks. It’s weird.

I guess Berliners and Germans have learned to control their drinking. They probably don’t have fights at clubs after too many beers. They do not beat up fans of the opposite team at games. Romanians have not.
